Then loosen the screws holding the mounts to the sides of the fireplace with a screwdriver, and remove the rod with the screens. Slide the screen rings of a new pair of fireplace screens onto the rod, and reinsert the rod into the fireplace. Align the mounts, and reattach the mounts with the mounting screws using a screwdriver. Check the operation of the screens to see that they open and close smoothly and fully.
